The project evolved when the client was recommended to the practice by a local Real Estate Agent who had been briefed to lease the house while the owners were overseas for 12 months.
The three bathrooms, laundry and kitchen were not up to the standard required by corporate tenants in the lower north shore. The brief was to produce designs, arrange consent from North Sydney Council and administer a high quality contractor to complete the works in five months.
The Council was very supportive after a pre-submission meeting and presentation of the ideas. We recommended a builder with whom we had very good experiences on similar projects in the area and who happened to be available.
Historic interior elements related to the staff quarters, laundry chute and kitchen server arrangements caused some compromises for the owners. These elements are part of the history and significance and needed to be retained.
The works were completed on time and the tenant is thrilled with the opportunity while the owner cannot wait to return.
